- On FBS3 cars we cut and program the new key at the car. This takes from about 10 minutes to over an hour, depending on the ignition module. With an FBS4 car we come back with the factory key once it arrives, usually one day to a week later, and set it up at the car.
- You start the car and test the remote and the doors. For FBS3 cars we also remove the lost key from the car's memory so it can't start it again.

What you need to prove ownership
You need a photo ID with your name and a document that ties that name to the car: the registration or the title. We can't make a key without both, and no honest locksmith will.
- Photo ID: driver's license, state ID or passport.
- Proof the car is yours: registration or title, with the same name as the ID.
- The VIN: it's printed on the registration and on the dash, visible through the windshield.

Yes, and you don't need to tow it anywhere. A 2017 C300 is the W205 C-Class, which uses FBS4. Will my old key still start the car if someone finds it?
